Building Plot

When we came to the canton of Glarus, we looked for a house for sale, but couldn't find anything that was simultaneously affordable, including the cost of renovations to turn it into a modern house, especially in terms of insulation, and that was in a location we liked. Finally, we rented a house in the town of Schwändi that met all our location criteria. After two years, we decided to contact the various landowners of the remaining properties in the construction zone. We were happily surprised that, although none of the plots were officially for sale, several owners showed interest in selling their plot to a young family who wanted to build a house. In May 2021, we purchased a lovely, south-facing parcel in Schwändi. The plot is relatively steep, which is an advantage for the view and sunlight, but together with the narrow access road, this will make building somewhat more difficult.
We chopped down three trees that were clearly on the site where the house was to be built. A few weeks later, a strong wind cut down some diseased ash trees along with the power line that crossed the plot.
